I just call: "/usr/sbin/rcxntpd ntptimeset"
But you have first to make sure your machine is set to the correct timezone (use Yast).
Do you set it up as a CRON job, then, so it will continuously check the time, or what?
No, I call it from inside /etc/ppp/ip-up.local, which is called when the networks goes up. Actually, I have it set so that it only adjust every fith time, ie, not on every connection. I can post the code, if you are interested...
Somehow I think this is a spin-off from my question.. :) Anyway, it seems like everybody misunderstood my question, I want to use the function included in the YaST2 editor for /etc/sysconfig files, the Network -> NTP part. I've set it to check all servers in ntp.conf at system startup config... XNTPD_INITIAL_NTPDATE = AUTO but still it doesn't set the clock.. I've got 4 ntp servers configured in the .conf file. I got spoiled with Mdk9 doing all the leg-work for me... all I had to do was ask for time synch in the installation process, so I really have no clue how it was accomplished.
:-)
I think the code is there in the scripts, it will run if the configuration file is there. Let me see... yes, it is inside "/etc/ppp/poll.tcpip". If xntp is not runing, /usr/sbin/rcxntpd will be called automatically.
But I disabled that script and used mine instead.
