No, it's if you only use one single method of login, *dm or startx. Because of a little bug, root's cookie file gets confused if you mix the methods
However, I prefer to log in from a text console, with the command 'startx <window manager>'. And in this case, I always run into these messages, no matter if I'm using 'su' or 'sux'. Any idea how I could still access an application like Yast2 in this case?
There are two things you can do. Either su to root, rm /root/.Xauthority, exit and sux or sux and "export XAUTHORITY=/home/UserWhoStartedX/.Xauthority" and run the app
