Someone here said we should put a wall around the US and nothing should get in or out. Did they forget that the US has a "Balance of Trade" imbalance that is larger than the rest of the world put togrther. That means that the US is spending way more in the world than the world spends in the US. The US is literally supporting much of the world; and it is getting bigger. Here in Chicagoland we now have dozens of "Container Depots" where acre after acre (hectare after hectare) are covered in empty containers 10 to 15 high. This is concrete evidence that the US is buying vastly more products from the world than the world is buying from the US. Where would the most suffering be if that trade were stopped?

I can try to speak for my country, so be it. Let me use that self-appointed right.
My country would be perfectly fine without any trade from the United states, no matter how adcvanced the products, no matter how advanced the technology. We do not need an indian on the moon. Or in Olympic games for that matter.
I found it funny to read that ONE guy in US committed suicide due to unemployment, and there were a few papers on their way to becoming a law against outsourcing of IT resources. I found it funny that US administration wishes to recover an ailing economy [plagued with corrupt financial accountants and unethical CEOs and boards of directors] with pumping more oil into it at the cost of thousands of lives - be it those of soldiers [their own or Iraqi] or citizens - using the laser-guided cluster bombs. I find it nothing but arm-twisting where they can, and let the UN be screwed in the process.
Can you tell me name of one country which will crumble to dust with all it's resources and civilizaion if US import from that country did not exist today?
Rohit
Dear Rohit, Please understand I do NOT want to offend you or anyone else. The Balance of trade deficit means that the consumers of the world like and buy far less USA goods than the USA likes and buys from the world. So much more USA money stays out in the world. This is a very GOOD thing for the rest of the world; less good for the USA. But the people in the USA mostly realize that they are living in priveledge and good fortune, they do not begrudge the benefit the world gains from the trade deficit. As that money works to grow the industry and skills of those countries they become better trading partners. Simple but effective way to promote peace; warring with good customers and suppliers is a quick way to destroy your own business!
