Warning: idiot newbie question. I'm using SuSE 8.2 (not that I suppose this is relevant) and have put a CD-ROM -- the one stuck in the back of Haugland & Jones' book *OpenOffice.org 1.0 resource kit* -- into the DVD-R drive and actually managed to make it do something. (That only took about an hour of experimentation!) It opens a Konqueror window for file:/media/dvdrecorder which displays what looks like a web page. How, other than via that web page, do I get to see what's on the disc? Even if I use su, typing "ls -a" within /media/dvdrecorder reveals nothing. I don't understand the difference between /media/dvdrecorder and /dev/dvdrecorder (mount point and link respectively, according to YaST), but anyway I (even with superuser superpowers) am told that the latter doesn't exist. I've already decided that I don't after all want to copy this CD to my hard drive, but I'll want to do something similar in the future, so I want to be able to dig around a CD-ROM. This apparent inability is nuts. What have I overlooked this time?
