How does one make a taxt file from the command line (like the DOS "copy con" command)? I looked for this information in various Linux books and found nothing.
If what you're trying to do is create a simple ASCII text file by typing into a window or terminal, do this: type: "cat >filename.txt" (without the quotes, of course - and include the space) Then start typing into the window. When you're finished, hit CTRL-D you will have a file named filename.txt. -- JAY VOLLMER JVOLLMER@CONSOLIDATEDLINT.COM TEXT REFS DOUBLEPLUSUNGOOD SELFTHINK VERGING CRIMETHINK IGNORE FULLWISE
