You didn't install Ximian did you? I had to completely eliminate everything above XFree after that little mistake and start over.

When I open the Nautilus file manager and click on a *.sxw document, the message "Nautilus has no installed viewer capable of displaying <file>". I associate the file type with soffice but that doesn't work either (it appears to "take" but subsequent double clicks come back with the first message. Does anyone know where I have to drill to make this work?
From the GNOME menu...
Applications -> Desktop Preferences -> Advanced -> File types and programs `-> Documents -> Word Processor
Been there, done that. I can see the window opening up that says "Edit File type" <No Icon> Description: OpenOffice.org Writer document MIME type: application/vnd.sun.xml.writer Category: Documents/Word Processor Filename extensions: Add: <blank> sxw
Actions Grayed out -> Viewer component: Grayed out -> Default Action Program to run: /opt/OpenOffice.org/program/soffice
Still doesn't work
