Hello, I've been reading faq's, downloading tools, compiling ... but it still doesn't work :-( . This is the problem : I'm trying to mount a DVD so I can copy the vob files on my portable which does not have a dvd-rom drive. When I mount it, autofs uses the udf filesystem. All files are readable except the main movie files. They produce an I/O error. Strangly enough, mplayer can play the dvd normally ( I reinstalled mplayer with css decryption support ). I tried to dd the disk directly to my portable, but this breaks the movie ( garbeled image and bad sound ). Once the kernel has had an io error, the drive stays blocked ( even the files I could read are now unreadable ), until I open en close the tray. I upgraded to suse 8.2 and upgraded the firmware of my drive to 1.51 to be sure. I tried with several disks, even with really old ones ( to check if there was a copy protection of some sort on there ). Since mplayer can play the disk , I suspect there's something wrong in the udf fs, since mplayer uses its own udf driver ( quote the mplayer homepage ). Does anybody know of anything I could try ? Thanks in advance ! Peter. -messages--------------------------------- Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: udf: registering filesystem Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: UDF-fs DEBUG lowlevel.c:57:udf_get_last_session: XA disk: no, vol_desc_start=0 Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: UDF-fs DEBUG super.c:1421:udf_read_super: Multi-session=0 Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: UDF-fs DEBUG super.c:410:udf_vrs: Starting at sector 16 (2048 byte sectors) Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: UDF-fs DEBUG super.c:437:udf_vrs: ISO9660 Primary Volume Descriptor found Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: UDF-fs DEBUG super.c:446:udf_vrs: ISO9660 Volume Descriptor Set Terminator found Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: UDF-fs DEBUG super.c:753:udf_load_pvoldesc: recording time 1025184840/0, 2002/06/27 13:34 (1000) Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: UDF-fs DEBUG super.c:763:udf_load_pvoldesc: volIdent[] = 'BBCDVD1141' Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: UDF-fs DEBUG super.c:770:udf_load_pvoldesc: volSetIdent[] = '2cdb6440' Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: UDF-fs DEBUG super.c:962:udf_load_logicalvol: Partition (0:0) type 1 on volume 1 Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: UDF-fs DEBUG super.c:972:udf_load_logicalvol: FileSet found in LogicalVolDesc at block=0, partition=0 Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: UDF-fs DEBUG super.c:800:udf_load_partdesc: Searching map: (0 == 0) Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: UDF-fs DEBUG super.c:882:udf_load_partdesc: Partition (0:0 type 1511) starts at physical 262, block length 1329266 Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: UDF-fs DEBUG super.c:1215:udf_load_partition: Using anchor in block 256 Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: UDF-fs DEBUG super.c:1448:udf_read_super: Lastblock=0 Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: UDF-fs DEBUG super.c:725:udf_find_fileset: Fileset at block=0, partition=0 Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: UDF-fs DEBUG super.c:786:udf_load_fileset: Rootdir at block=2, partition=0 Jun 20 14:33:23 pcvlf936 kernel: UDF-fs INFO UDF 0.9.6-rw (2002/03/11) Mounting volume 'BBCDVD1141', timestamp 2002/06/27 15:34 (1078) Jun 20 14:33:42 pcvlf936 kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 126128 Jun 20 14:33:42 pcvlf936 kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 128008 Jun 20 14:33:42 pcvlf936 kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 2224588 Jun 20 14:33:42 pcvlf936 kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 4321228 Jun 20 14:33:42 pcvlf936 kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 5318064 Jun 20 14:34:26 pcvlf936 kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 128008 Jun 20 14:34:27 pcvlf936 kernel: I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 128008 -- Peter Van Biesen Adj.
