I'm currently in Qatar on business, working in a hospital that runs a Windows 2000 network. I can have access to this, have a username and password, and the IT dept set up the Windows XP Pro installation on my laptop to use the proxy server on port 8080. I can surf the web from Windows OK but can't access my pop3 mail. I dual boot the laptop with 8.2, though and would prefer to use that. I have set up the NIC (DHCP) and proxy settings in YaST with the same settings as in Windows, but I can't access the internet. I have also set up the proxy in the browser (tried konqueror and mozilla). Despite specifying that konqueror should ask for a username/password as needed, it doesn't. I just get an error message, saying connection refused, authentication error.
You did remember to specify your gateway, didn't you? That is the one I have a tendency to miss... Aside from that, I'm too new to SuSE --though I have used Linux for some time.

I presume that would be the IP address of the proxy server? Thanks for your reply. David -- Si Hoc Legere Scis Nimium Eruditionis Habes
