Would like a new MB for Pentium 4 at 2.4 GHz. ATX, with sound (2 channels is fine), without video, with LAN, will plug in 512 MB of DDR333 until price comes down, like 533 MHz bus speed. What is hyper-threading technology, and should I have it? What would I have to add to use it? Should have at least 4 card slots plus video slot.
Machine will be used for audio processing (de- noising tapes and old records for CD) and a small amount of AutoCad Lite, along with the usual, but not games.
Must run SuSE Linux without problems, and Win98SE with as few as usually happen.
Well, I've had my P4 2.4ghz running on an Asus P4PE-L for about 2.5 months and it's preformed quite well and I've had no issues as of yet. I do not know if it will run Win98SE because I don't do Windows at all. But if there are drivers for the motherboard components then it should work just fine. -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org ----------------------------------------------------------- The IQ and the life expectancy of the average American recently passed each other going in the opposite direction.
