Hey,
I'm trying to get SuSE set up on my girlfriends new Dell Inspiron 1100 and am having some issues. The ACPI doesn't install properly (I get the message about parts being installed but some things missing) and the bootsplash doesn't work. Even with splash=silent in the menu.lst I still get the plain ol' text boot. I've tried doing the install with the boot option of acpi=force and that didn't help. Doing it with acpi=off apm=on got apm working correctly but I don't know if that will allow me to do things like suspend to disk.
If anyone here is running 8.2 on a Dell laptop and has any tips I'd appreciate it. I once used apm on a Dell laptop and the suspend to disk worked mostly
