To: SuSE Users List Subject: [SLE] my fonts broke I used KDE Control Centre's Font Installer to add the MS Tahoma font. Sadly, it crashed and restarted KDE - thereafter one particular font caused an error whenever I tried to use the installer, so I removed it.
Everything is back to normal now, including the new Tahoma font, except
when using a Konsole. Previously I had it set to use a "Custom" setting,
but that's now displaying characters d o u b l e s p a c e d which isn't very helpful. I'm pretty sure the font I deleted was not the one I
was using.
If I try to change the Konsole font I get a choice of 3 rough looking fonts, none of which are any use.
Can somebody tell me how to convince the Konsole to let me choose a proper font?? Please??!
Cheers!

I had the same problem. I could solve it by "forcing" KDE Font Installer to make the font congiguration again. e.g. Disable a font and apply. Then re-enable the font and apply. Alternative it helped me to configure it with the SuSE script: # fonts-config --force This also creates the ghostscript Fontmap* entries. If you don't want this use the option --no-gs-fontmap . ( # man fonts-config ) Sometimes I had also to restart X . Walter
