Hello, Had some hard time (1/2 day ) to get it +/- OK. But still, good job SuSE. Base : MB : Asus P4C800 Proc : P4 -- 3GHz Hyperthreading FSB 800 Mem : DDR 400 Mhz ---2GB Videocard : Nvidia FX 5600 Used my old 80GB disks with 8.2 already installed before. 1. Had to do a complete reinstall ( even in Windoz ), since I changed MB and P4 2. got blocked everywhere in graphical install. 3. had to disable in Bios all internal MB devices ( sound + networkcard ) 4. Did a manual install. Observations : The most important is probably the choice by yast2 for the SMP kernel ( there is only one processor but with hyperthreading ) I think SuSE should make more effort on initially detecting LCD monitors. Nvidia drivers install went smooth. Fortunatly I had my old XF86Config which I just copied since sax2 launched in init 3 mode just offered a black screen. Once copied, all went well, init 5 OK. Questions : 1. Does Hyperthreading means anything to Linux ?? 2. Anyone knowing of a driver for the 3Com Gigabit LOM (3C940) network card ? 3. Anyone knowing of a driver for the ADI AD1985 AC'97 sound card ? Thanks in advance, Filip.
