I got the same as you guys when I installed pixieplus 0.5.4 on my system a couple of months back. The strange thing is, out of a whim, I tried it again today and the list of file formats showed up!!! I don't know what have changed.
If pixieplus doesn't work for you guys, an alternative is showimg:

The latest version supports image conversion. find dups, filters. etc.

I had a look at showimg - it's not bad. Thanks

Thanks Charles, I too took a peek at Showimg and have now replaced pixieplus with that program. I have built an i686 rpm for SuSE 8.2, if anyone might like to check it out also. Just mail me privately, it is under 2mb, so possible to include in an email. Showimg has a much better look and feel to viewing and playing with graphics than did PixiePlus, I think. The developer on pixieplus is so off & on all the time, it's doubtful he will ever finish it or have it in a completely working state. In searching for a replacement, I found, from the recommendation of someone, "gthumb" as well. This is a very nice program, although it seems somewhat unfinished to me and click on "resize" and it takes a ride on the "crash train"! You can tell that Showimg is unfinished as it feels that way as well, but I didn't experience any problems with the program during my use. This program has a more polished feel & look to it, so be sure to give it a look.
