Ok, a few on the list have been as I have. Frustrated with the repeated failures of the emu-tools and their blatant lack of any descent docs, howto's or even a worth while readme. So, it very simple to get this to stop priniting out those annoying message about private sessions and must be using old drivers lines when it fails, and it always fail unless you do: rcalsasound stop modprobe emu10k1 That's it! Now many of the mixers will not work. Mostly because their looking to go through alsa sound system, or for some reason can't find /dev/mixer. When I installed the the emu-tools YaST insisted that install "aumix" as well - with good reason. So far it seems to be the only mixer I can use with these non-alsa kernel drivers. I am going see if I can figure out the need configs for the various mixers (e.g. gamix/amix) and then insert a line that can be easily set to y/n for switching between alsa and kernal native emu10k1 drivers. I know the moment I reboot the rcalsasound will kick in again. The thing I have noticed is that the 4 channel seperation seems better (though sometimes I think it sets this to a middle channel - I don't have on, lol). Anyway, for those that were curious this is it. Now to see if these drivers can allow key trigger inputs from my external midi keyboard - I haven't had any success with alsa getting this to work and want to do real-time recording, writing/edit. Cheers, Curtis. :) Oh, and the emu-script enables controls for all the chnannels and in/out levels - by the way!
