Hello guys
Recently i made a huge :) upgrade into a server from Redhat 5 to SuSE 8.1. I used the /ets/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall to make iptable rules and everything works fine except the speed. I mean that the machine is running really slow after running the firewall. I have open the following services-ports (tcp and utp): 10000 169 22 25 3128 3306 42 443 53 80 http https ssh which means that on this machine i am running bind, apache, mysql, ssh, mail The same services was running on the xserver and it was much faster than this (more than 300% faster!) Any suggestions?
Write your own firewall script (if you take a look at the ouput of "iptables -L" while running SuSEfirewall you will get a good idea why it is running slow -- the iptables it sets up for even the simplest system is rather baroque :-)
