My production environment is running 8.1. I got 8.2 but am not willing to make it my production environment (apache problems). Yet there are some things I would like to get that are on the 8.2 disks. In particular, kde 3.1 and xfree 4.3.
Why don't you just get these updates via ftp for 8.1. They have been available for over a month, made for 8.1. I wouldn't suggest updating 8.1 with stuff from b.2, as 8.2 is compiled with gcc 3.3, while 8.1 is compiled with gcc 3.2. There might be enough differences/ incompatibilities as to cause you some problems, which are entirely avoidable using the updates for your exact version.
