Does Evolution handle such characters?
If not I think a stand alone correction program would be best?
I have been thinking of trying to develope such in VB which also exists
in linux.
This is a frequent occurance. though not from this list.

I use ELM and occasionally I get emails that have strings that look like this =20D =30D etc.
That's usually from some broken MS encoding but there might be an mta between you and the sender that is doing it.
