Pan is catching up fast, but it still dosn't match Agent.
I wish the author would get his head otta the MickySoft bucket and port Agent to Linux.....should have been done a long time ago!! The only problem in that install is the Agent debugger keeps coming up. I haven't been able to find an answer to this one.
I wrote to Forte.inc a long time ago and asked about a linux port, and they said it wouldn't ever happen. They said they way Agent is written, it relies alot on "windows-specific" code, and it wouldn't port to linux without alot of re-writing. I'm just glad that they are keeping it "wine-compatible". I've been able to both run, and install agent from wine. I had the "debugger problem" with it on an old laptop with a pentium processor. It worked when I mounted a real "C" drive with Agent and windows on it. It didn't seem to like running purely off of linux. But my duron system dosn't need a real C drive at all. One other tip I have is that wine can be a "slow-starter" when it has to "build font metrics". A way to bypass this, is to let it build the font metrics once, then chmod the "cachedmetrics.:0.0" to 444, and add this to ./wine/config [fonts] "FontMetrics" = "/home/zentara/.wine/cachedmetrics.:0.0" -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
