Hi all,
it appears that that a recent quote from Prof. Chomsky at MIT provoked fairly fierce response.
Off topic? Well, M$ bashing appears to be in order, and with great fanfare, appealing to all good (patritotic?) citizens and common sense, the Linux spirit is declarded a unviversal champion of freedom of expression and mind. Hurbris! Narrow self-interest is the name of the game, at least when I read some of the e-mail on this list, here, as elsewhere.
It is my impression, from what I read, that not all are quite aware of just who Chomsky is. Chomsky is acknowledged as the father of modern linguisqtics (after 1950 :-), is important in sociology (for his work in grammar), and behold, is important in computer science for work in grammer as well. So when (?) your hear about a Chomsky grammar in your CS class, you at least have heard about the guy, eh?
Disgusted, Sigfred.
Go check this link for some alternative to CNN :
I know exactly who Chomsky is and I agree with him on virtually all issues but I don't subscribe to this list to find out. I want to use this list to find out about issues with SuSE linux, nothing else. If this sort of stuff carries on then I will leave the list. Can all this stuff please stop.
