Thanks! It helped. Then I can go on until the "creating partition" menu.
My HD situation:
hda1 WindowsXP, NTFS
hda5 Documents, Fat32
hda6 supposed for / , ext2 (made by RamLinux bootfloppy)
hda7 supposed for /home, same as above
hda8 supposed for swap
Well, during kernel loading, I can see (just for few seconds) something like
checking hda partitions..... hda1 hda4
I had the same problem with my Toshiba 6100. To get around this I had to add the NOPCMCIA=yes boot option in the GRUB screen. Then, I followed the instructions from the SuSE site to fix this -- it entailed adding making sure that PCMCIA_PCIC_OPTS has the following value:
PCMCIA_PCIC_OPTS="pci_int=1 pci_csc=1 irq_list=9,10"
in /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia.
Make sure that you do not restart your computer when you boot into Linux. You have to turn the power completely off and then turn the power back on, otherwise the boot up will hang on the usb load.
Hope that helps,

Hi all! I just bought a Toshiba 5200 notebook and I'm trying to install SuSe 8.1 pro. But I just can't: installation hangs almost at the beginning. I can choose the type of installation (new, safe-settings, manual, etc...), then it starts to load the kernel and it hangs The last lines on the screen are: loading usb modules....... done loading pcmcia modules........ then it hangs. Nothing more happens. I waited for some minutes, then turned off the power. What should I do? Please, notice that pcmcia is working good on Win XP... Thanks Ferdinando
