Hi Dejan, I had 2 partitions, one a 10Gb vfat type with windows 2000 installed, and remaining of ext2 type. I had download the whole suse 8.1 directory via ftp....a whopping 5.8Gb, and copied into the vfat partition. I then cut a cd image from boot.iso and booted via the cd. At the time of install, SuSE detected the windows partition, and gave me a choice of creating default partitions (ext2fs type) for rest of the hard disk, without deleting Windows. I chose expert options to create partitions as I wanted. Here's what mine looks like Device Boot Id System Mounted on /dev/hda1 83 Linux /boot /dev/hda2 c Win95 FAT32 (LBA) /VFAT /dev/hda3 82 Linux swap /dev/hda4 5 Extended /dev/hda5 83 Linux /xtra /dev/hda6 83 Linux / Maybe you have only 1 partition as vfat type, and SuSE doesnt find a destination partition to install, as the existing vfat partition is already mounted as the source partition. Maybe you could try creating 2 partitions via Windows, say a C: and a D: , and keeping your SuSE directory in C: , then try chosing the D: drive (/dev/hda2...as seen from linux).... as the installation directory for SuSE. You can use your pc with a dual boot system. And if u want to remove windows, you can always, format the C: drive partition as ext2fs or reiserfs, after you have installed SuSE. ;-) Hope this has helped, Good luck!! Anand
Hi Anand,
Thanks for your reply. Let me clarify few things. First, have you as me downloaded files from ftp or you made a copy from CDs?
I've notice that he loads vfat modul by himself. He does ask me for the location of instalation files and he reads root image, asks me to choose the language and then stops with the message "No hard disks were found for installation Please check your hardware" .
Any idea?
