Anyone? - any experiences, troubles, hitches, foulups or things to be aware of when compiling the new kernels with SuSE?
Yes, you need a new modutils, that you have to compile, and new /etc/modprobe.conf that replaces /etc/modules.conf as functionality. I've done this with 8.0. System monitor applets from kde kicker didn't work, I guess because /proc structure is different. Running a 2.5.xx kernel will not break many things, of course, you must never overwrite or delete the original SuSE kernel, so you can get back to running it, in case you didn't compile the new kernel with the right options. -- Linux/Unix Systems Engineer http://www.genesys.ro Phone +40723-267961
