Subject: [SLE] System Locks Up
To: suse-linux-e
Is there any know hardware problems that would cause XMMS (or any other
music player)
to lock the system up?
I have:
Soyo SY KT333 Dragon Ultra Platinum
AMD XP 2000+
GeForce2 MX 400
On board CMI 8738 audio chip (being used)
Haupauge TV Card
2 Realtek Network cards
1GB DDR Ram
I seem to remember a previous Nvidia driver causing similar
problems with this card. The latest and the shipped make
no difference. I hope that has nothing to do with it.
What I see happening is when XMMS is started up it plays fine for about
2 min
and then the sound starts to degrade. After about 8 min of playing the
sound
just stops and the system locks with it. I can't telnet/ssh in, the
system doesn't
respond to the request. Keyboard won't do anything either. Hard reset is
the
only solution I seem to have, as well as not playing music.
