Dear Clayton,
Can your SuSE pc interact with an ethernet network(RJ45) via an installed NIC? If so there should be no problems.
Yes... ethernet is no problem. I think my concerns are with the USB component... my brother tried and failed to get SuSE working with a Hughes Satellite modem that uses USB as it's interface. I was/am wondering if this SMC modem is the same... the saving grace being that it has an RJ45 intereface. C.

I'm looking to change ISPs to a faster provider, and the one I'm looking at uses SMC Barricade SMC7401BRA ADSL modems. http://www.smc-europe.com/english/products/broad/7401BRA.html
I've done some Google-ing and haven't found a lot of info (in English) about how well this modem works in my beloved Linux. All the support docs tell me how to install it into that other OS.... but nothing much is mentioned about Linux... if at all. Does anyone have any experience with getting this to work in Linux? Do I really need to be concerned about it since this unit has RJ45 as well as USB connections?
Any experience or comments would be more than welcome... especially before I jump in and start spending money to get this high speed toy installed.
