I have just configured sensors on a new install of 8.1. I made the appropriate additions to /etc/modules.conf and /etc/rc.status in order for the values to be shown in gkrellm (that's successful)
You shouldn't have to edit modules.conf, and what exactly did you edit in rc.status? The sensors-detect script should have offered to create a sysconfig file for you, and told you about an init.d script that needs to be copied. You shouldn't have to do more than that, and I can't think why you'd need to touch rc.status
After making these changes I get large numbers of the message:
/ect/modules.conf is more recent than /lib/modules/2.4.19-4GB/modules.dep
which, of course, it is. My question is how do I get rid of these rather annoying messages. They don't seem to be effecting the system in any way.
The messages affect the system in that there could be lines in modules.conf that don't have corresponding entries in the modules.cache file. Run "depmod -a" to update the module cache file. Anders
