"Waiting for carrier" means that the modem waits for the other side to send a signal. Is the phone-number you are using the right one ? Maybe you could dial to a phone-number so you can pick up that phone yourself, then you could hear if the modem dials OK, and sends some signals. Not much help, but it's a start. Setyo Nugroho wrote:
Hi all, My previous two emails on this problem remain unanswered. I would be really happy if someone can have time to help me.
Mine is smartlink internal modem, fujitsu siemens, suse 8.1.
I hv downloaded the driver from http://www.smlink.com/download/IndexAMRLinux.html. It worked properly, either using kinternet or wvdial.
But after rebooting, I can't get my computer online any longer. I got this msg, using wvdial (similar msg from kinternet):
pppd: --> Sending: ATZ pppd: ATZ pppd: OK pppd: --> Sending: AT Q0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 pppd: AT Q0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 pppd: OK pppd: --> Sending: ATM1 pppd: ATM1 pppd: OK pppd: --> Modem initialized. pppd: --> Sending: ATDT010700192072 pppd: --> Waiting for carrier. pppd: ATDT010700192072
What das this phrase "pppd: --> Waiting for carrier" mean?
Again, I would extremely be happy if someone could help me fix the internet connection.
