There are RPMs on the mplayer site that worked just fine fine on both of my 8.0 systems. They're one release candidate behind the current version, but everything you would want (including quicktime) is there. The only thing I wasn't able to get to work on Suse was the mga_vid driver RPM for my matrox g400 card, but that certainly isn't necessary, and I was able to easily follow the instructions from the tar.gz package for that one. What is a good all-in-one media player for 8.0
I want to view, AVI, MPEG, etc.
Anything that installs via RPM would be nice.
MPlayer. There is a version on the SuSE CDs, but it has various codecs disabled for copyright reasons. So, if you want the widest support (including Quicktime), I'd download it from mplayerhq.hu, although this will mean compiling it yourself. Unless anyone knows of a good RPM of mplayer?
Alternatively, you could try xine or ogle, both of which are supposed to be very good.
