I thought there was a line of audio IC chips out, which emulate the behavior of tubes. It's amazing what they can do with IC chips. As an old electronic tech, I am still amazed that an IC chip can replace a coil.
Yes, they even have chips that can replace a 12AX7. You tap on the side of the chip and you get microphonics just like the tube ;-)
