There are numerous methods you can use on linux, starting from dump&restore to full blown commercial packages.
Is there any reason to use anything more complicated than the backup tool in YaST? For that matter, what does this actually do? I've failed to find any documentation about it. It seems to make a tarball of files that don't belong to any packages. Does this mean that, if I needed to reinstall, I should first install all packages, then use the Restore module to put all the files back?
