When I unplug and replug my Logitech chordless optical USB mouse it is not detected and I can't use it until I go into YaST and do the mouse setup. Kind of irritating. Any ideas what causes this and how to solve it?
SuSE 8.1 Pro (without updates) on a Vaio FX605, hotplug is running.
There are different devices nodes for different devices. The common ps2 mouse (and trackpads etc). can be accessed via /dev/psaux, the used protocol is PS/2. USB mice use /dev/usb/mouseX, the protocol is IMPS/2. USB mice use the new input layer which provides the node /dev/input/mice. This is a multiplexer for all mouse devices. But only USB and ADB uses it in the 2.4 kernels. 2.5 provides only the new input layer, so dead mice will not happen anymore. Check your /etc/X11/XF86Config for the used mouse device.
