Hi Pete (and the others here), Thanks for the info. Let me be a little bit more specific. There exists a linux driver for this wlan adapter. It's a binary only driver. That's OK for me, I highly prefer open source, but I'm not a fundamentalist. The driver I have is a kernel module compiled for the 2.4.18 mandrake kernel. I found reports of people who got this module to work also on debian, with the 2.4.18 kernel. I'm running SuSE 8.0, which also uses the 2.4.18 kernel. So I tried insmod -f, which however fails because of missing symbols. On the other hand, I'm pretty confident that it shouldn't be _too_ hard to get this driver working for suse 8.0 too. My question: has someone of you already tried this. But indeed: if someone of you happens to be looking for a wlan adapter that is well supported under linux, please take care: the DWL650+ is based on a totally different chipset than the well supported DWL650. One more thing: dlink seems to have promised a linux driver for the first quarter of 2003. But why not try the existing kernel module in the mean while? Best regards, Philippe. pete atkinson wrote:

Hi,
I recently bought a Dlink DWL650+ wlan adapter. There exists a binary driver for mandrake linux (e.g. at http://www.zahner2000.de/linux/v0903a.zip). Some people seem to have used this driver succesfully on debian too. Does anyone of you know how to get it to work on SuSE 8.0 (or later) ?
Thanks,
Philippe Bekaert.
PS: the DWL650 (without +) seems to be supported well, but the 650+ is a completely different thing, not like suggested by the type number !!
the 650+ is a TI chipped card... Texas Instruments seem reluctant to assist in the cause (unless anybody can tell me different). Even if you try and order the normal (supported) 650 you often receive the 'improved' (i.e. unsupported) version.
I use a netgear ma104 - no problems.....
