I have a SuSE 8.1 box connected to the net via a Speedtouch USB modem, the SuSE way. I connect through smpppd / kinternet. It mostly works fine, except for the fact that the connection lasts a maximum of 30 something hours. This is a pain in the neck because I run a home webserver, with No-ip services.
"pppd: LCP terminated by peer" : does this mean that i wad disconnected by my provider?
Yes, after 36 hours you wil get disconnected by your isp.
Why does PPP disconnect after some time? Can I have it automatically reconnect? How?
Yes, put AUTO_RECONNECT="yes" in /etc/sysconfig/network/providers/dsl-provider0 - -- Yannick Van Osselaer Public Key: wwwkeys.us.pgp.net -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE+QVdt93+qyX+enAERArKYAJ961hFfVFporyjkIy6AQ+Fu0NrIqACdEGxT 5k5Yyl2bbpOvAIWGAuAtiM8= =uadg -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
