Are you running 8.0 or 8.1? For 8.1 it's kde3-stable but for 8.0 it's just kde.
Thanks for replying. Sorry, should have specified that. Running 8.1
Bob,
what gives rpm -qa | grep ^k Do you have kde (3.1) packages installed?
Hello Richard. Thanks for replying. No, that command showed only two 3.1 packages installed. The other 25 or so were 3.0.4. But! See below !
Provide your /etc/apt/sources.list file (as attachment).
No need. See below!
Perform an apt-get update once more
Did that and there was no change.
What is the result of apt-get install kdebase3
OK. Here is where everything changed. Did that and it installed kdebase3 and several other dependent packages. Then did another "upgrade" and all of the other 3.1 packages installed.
Do you see kde3-stable listed in the directory: /var/state/apt/lists ls *kde3*
Yep, it was there before I did the kdebase3 install thing. Thanks again Richard you have come through again as usual. I am sure that many many list subsribers to this list are happy that you are here. Your apt-get for SuSE is the best that has come along. YOU cannot even come close to apt-get. I have continually upgraded SuSE with apt-get, including from 8.0 to 8.1. Thank You, thank you! Keep up the great work. My admiration to you and apt-get Bob S.
