Why are you worried about your swap space? Is the machine performing poorly? Is it slow? Is there a lot of disk thrashing when you launch a new application?
Yes, indeed my apps thrash when starting, which is why I started poking around. You should see this thing thrash like crazy when I unlock the screen saver (the matrix lookalike). It takes a full 15 seconds of thrashing before it unlocks. It never used to be this bad. A couple of terminal windows, KMail, and Konqueror shouldn't be using up 256 MB of swap space. The degradation occurs over several days to a week and a half. When it starts looking egregious in a few days, I'll try the 'ps -aux' command as recommended by a previous post.
