Hello! Yesterday I installed SuSE 8.1 on a PC from scratch (no upgrade) and although the printer was readily detected by the initial automatic setup I have a very weird problem with an HP 970C that is connected to it via USB: Whenever something is supposed to be printed, nothing happens. Nothing. Nada. For example, if I try to print a test page from Yast2, I get this on the log file: I [12/Jan/2003:23:05:25 +0100] Job 4 queued on 'lp' by 'root'. I [12/Jan/2003:23:05:25 +0100] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstops (PID 3493) for job 4. I [12/Jan/2003:23:05:25 +0100] Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/cupsomatic (PID 3494) for job 4. I [12/Jan/2003:23:05:25 +0100] Started backend /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb (PID 3495) for job 4. . but NOTHING is printed. The printer doesn't even nudge. Nothing is logged anywhere else, but nothing is printed either. Here is the printers.conf file: # Printer configuration file for CUPS v1.1.15 # Written by cupsd on Sun Jan 12 21:39:31 2003 <DefaultPrinter lp> Location USB printer on DeviceURI usb:/dev/usb/lp?vendor=03f0&prod_id=1004 State Idle Accepting Yes JobSheets none none QuotaPeriod 0 PageLimit 0 KLimit 0 </Printer> lpinfo confirms the device URI: direct usb:/dev/usb/lp?vendor=03f0&prod_id=1004 I'm completely stumped. What might be going on? Any ideas? Best regards, Afonso Infante.
