hey guys any tips on how to replace Gtk 1.2 by Gtk 2.2, i.e. i've downloaded all the necessary source files from www.gtk.org - glib, pango, atk, gtk2.2 etc, built everything and installed it, the problem i'm facing now is that (some???) Gtk applications do not run under Gtk 2.2, a test program that was built during Gtk 2.2 installation does run, but that's the only one that i could run!!!! so i assume my Gtk 2.2 build was successful Gtk 2.2, glib 2.2, library files etc were installed under /usr/local and /usr/local/lib directory, where is my old Gtk 1.2 library files were under /usr/lib i use netscape7 quite often, and it requires Gtk, it runs fine under Gtk 1.2, after i've installed Gtk 2.2, i've removed Gtk 1.2 and glib 1.2 by issuing rpm -e --nodeps gtk, rpm -e --nodeps glib, however after that netscape would not run, it was complaining about missing libraries etc. so i've installed Gtk 1.2 and glib 1.2 rpms again, and replaced their library files under /usr/lib by symbolic links, to point to Gtk 2.2 and glib 2.2 library files under /usr/local/lib and still netscape would not run, this time it gives an error message saying something like: relocation error ... and a name of an object it cannot find or recognise. i did include all the paths in /etc/ld.so.conf file and ran ldconfig etc. i used to have a redhat 8.0 system, which comes with Gtk 2.0 or Gtk 2.2 rpms already setup etc, and the same netscape application did run on that particular redhat system, so it is possible to run netscape under later Gtk versions, even though i was possibly compiled with Gtk 1.2 i just have to figure out how to configure it, there is not much on www.gtk.org about this topic, they have a few help files on how to compile Gtk etc, however documentation on integrating Gtk into an existing environment seems to be non existent!! any ideas on how to get this bugger up and running??? thanks
