Ok ..Agree but why would some files show and other
dont...remind you I became root before sending the
command "ls"
before I use to be able to list them.

Check the permission on /etc/init.d/rc5.d It appears that you do not have the proper permissions on the rc5.d directory. Here are the permissions on mine: drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Mar 26 2002 rc5.d
