Sorry, I'm fearing that I could lost myself someway because I'm a linux newbie (just a month old :) could you give step-by-step detailed information? Remember user "adagilson" has /home/vitor (it's ok). And there's no user "victor" just a directory with this name that has been used for me (user "adagilson"). I need to delete directory "adagilson" (not user adagilson) as well there's no user "victor" do delete. thanks for helping, may God give you a happy and joyful new year. a. jaakko tamminen escreveu:
Hi
Maybe it would be easier to delete the user adagilson along with the directory first. Write down the user-number before delete!
Then rename the directory victor to adagilson, and change the user victor user-number to the number that was previously owned by adagilson.
This way You don't need to change the owner of the files in the adagilson directory.
Jaska.
