Hi Folks It looks like I'm going to have a series of problems with this install ... (However, I have got my Hayes Accura PCI modem working ... if that's of use to anyone). I've chosen the office install out of the box. (I've never used OpenOffice b4, so apologies if this turns out to be a stupid problem, as I expect it is). As a user, I click on the OpenOffice.org and it installs the whole thing into my local directory (so we need a whole copy for every user?). Now when I try and use it, it want to save the file into /opt/OpenOffice.org/work, which doesn't exist. OK, I can create that (but why? what is the point of the directories in my user filesystem?). Saving the file gives errors, and blows awayOpenOffice ... but sometimes actually saves it. Not consistently ... For example, I can save atext.rtf (with an error message), but then if I try and save atext.sxw ... bang, crash. Any thoughts gratefully received. I've had a nosey round but the error is so fundamental ... it's bound to be something I've done .. Cheers, Bryan
