Dear John, Thank you very MUCH for help. What should I do with SuSE package called cups-drivers-stp, which seem to include gimp-print drivers? It looks like I have to remove it. Please advise. Thanks. PS. I will look into content of SuSE source rpm cups-drivers-stp, and will try to figure out what is there and may be it would be possible to just to change the source of gimp-print and rebuild cups-drivers-stp. AMD users can use -march=k6. Pentium (original) users can use -march=i585. If you don't have gimp installed, you may want to use --without-gimp after --with-cups. You don't need to tell gimp-print whether or not you intend to recompile ghostscript. The --prefix=/usr puts gimp-print in the /usr directory, which is more sensible with a SuSE installation.
Ideally test the installation with gimp - it prints directly to the printer and will show you the drivers can work even if you haven't set them up properly. To set up the printer in cups do the following.
Use YaST2 to configure the printer initially.
Then use kups (make sure you installed it :-))(under kde menu: System > Tools > Cups Administration tool) to fine-tune cups. You should need to change at most media size (typically Letter or A4) and resolution (360 is fast but lower quality, 720 slow but higher quality; it's unlikely you'd want anything else for standard printing).

Hi, Someone has an idea where to obtain (or build) more recent Gimp-Print Drivers for SuSE/CUPS than ones bundled with distro? SuSE people seem to name this package cups-drivers-stp. I have checked all apt repositories for SuSE, it is not available here. Thanks in advance for any suggestion.
