Hi Andrei
I built a PC a couple of weeks ago witht he Asus A7N266-VM mobo, which has most things onboard. I found 8.1 installed very nicely, and much more easily than 8.0. On the latter, I could not get the nForce drivers for the network card working, and the video drivers for the onboard GForce 2 were difficult to get working. 8.1 is really very nice, although it has some little useability glitches compared to 8.0 in my view. This cheap mobo runs fine with a stock 8.1 install, and games like Unreal Tournament are very nice on it - I can give you more detailed notes on driver installation if you like, but my suggestion would be to try it by all means.
Hi, Kevin, Many thanks for prompt reply. I will probably opt for Chaintech nForce 2 m/b which do not have built-in net card. BTW, is support for nForce2 chipset is being built into kernel or there is some kind of "generic" chipset support?
