Sounds like the problem I had with CUPS. What do you get from 'lpstat -p'?
Now, at the box with USB+HP DJ 563C, lpstat -p informs (at the moment) me that the device is not being present, which is not very true -
Hmmm. I had similar odd errors from CUPS. In my case, it was fine when I printed test pages or sent text files to the printer with 'lpr -PlP /etc/hosts', but after I used AbiWord or CrossoverOffice to print, lpstat -p reported that the printer wasn't available. I gave up eventually and installed LPRng, as I said. I don't know what else I can suggest, though :-( John -- John Pettigrew Headstrong Games john@headstrong-games.co.uk Fun : Strategy : Price http://www.headstrong-games.co.uk/ Board games that won't break the bank Knossos: escape the ever-changing labyrinth before the Minotaur catches you!
