Ok, so the additional install images are gone, so can I compile a kernel on another system, then put it on a bootfloppy and use that to install 8.1?
To put it shortly, no. AMD K5 133 is a 486 clone, while everything in 8.1 is compiled for 586. So recompiling just a kernel is not enough. You have to recompile everything, but then it won't be SuSE Linux 8.1
Or, is there anyway to force this puppy to install on an older AMD?
The oldest AMD it will work on is AMD K6. Regards, -Kastus
