Hi all...
As you all know my wife is learning Linux but due to problems with her hands she can not type very good. We were able to fix the keyboard slow enough so that she can now work with it. (Thanks!)
Today I was teaching her how to cut and paste with a mouse between two ttys. BUT she can not handle a mouse (same reason as for the typing). Is there a program like gpm using only the keyboard?
Would it be faster for her to use a tablet pointer (like Wacom)? It's kinda painful to maneuver within windows using keyboard, and if she's already slowed down by injury or other condition, she probably doesn't need more frustration to compound it. She could probably work with a stylus taped/rubber-banded across her wrist, and use that for pointer functions, while keeping her hand free to type. It would be as fast as mousing, and could be made accurate by configuring the tablet with respect to sensitivity and reaction speed. I'm considering one (to replace my trackball), because I recently aggravated carpal tunnel syndrome by falling off my bike and spraining both wrists. I need a different kind of pointer that doesn't need wrist flexion. Anyway, it might be worth a look for you. Oh, by the way... list people... anybody know how well does 8.1 support Wacom tablets? Are there specific models that I should consider and any that I should avoid? /kevin
