After installing a new kernel (k_deflt-2.4.19-110) at 8.1, I'm getting the following error message: # lilo Fatal: open /boot/message: No such file or directory and indeed an 'ls /boot/message' returns: ls: /boot/message: No such file or directory The file is listed in /etc/lilo.conf: ... timeout = 80 message = /boot/message ... Is this is an essential file, or can the line be removed from lilo.conf and all will be fine? There are no other (interesting) OSes on that system. Is it possible to copy a /boot/message file from a 8.0 system? -- Richard
