Ok, I purchased my 8.1 Pro Sunday and went to do a clean install on my laptop yesterday. (BTW -- did you get my money yet SuSE *smile* ?)
Anyway, the DVD booted as it always has, in fact this laptop has 8.0 on it already, but on another partition. All the hardware was recognized, and everything seemed OK -- except -- no packages? It should none, and no matter what, I could not click on anything to select any packages.
Running short on time, rather than reboot the DVD I rebooted to the CD install and proceeded from there. Has anyone else seen a DVD come up just fine, but show zero packages for install??
Yes, I had that experience just a few days ago, but I was not able to get through the CD install; about half way though CD#1 it could not read any package from the disc (162 packages missed). And there were other symptoms that suggested that the drive was flaky. (It's a new machine.) I did a network install from our enterprise mirror. And fortunately someone else got to spend an hour on hold with the vendor's tech support, to get a new drive. James F.
