I used that in the past, but it wasn't convenient for me because I wanted something that would switch on auomatically. What can I say? I'm lazy and forgetful. xlock looks to be what I want. Reading the man page makes for good fun too. Theo. Sean Schulze theodore.schulze@us.army.mil

Well, I don't have a screen-saver aquarium, but I do like the feature of having my screen password protected. How do you put the monitor into standby and have it password protected without the utility of a screen saver? (Not trying to be "in your face" about this; just curious what you use.)
I click on the lock icon in the KDE panel (above the Power icon).
There is also KDE Menu/Preferences/Power Control/Enery - Enable Display Energy Saving. I don't know if this enables the password too, because I usually do it manually, as I explained above.
