Thank you. I have to get this project draft ready asap. I'm working under a lot of pressure so I have ruled out using any tool that would require a long learning curve before becoming productive. It maybe that SO is not properly installed as I installed it from the Sun CD. However I got OO from the SuDE 8.0 distribution kit so I assume it comes with all the necessary fonts and symbols .... How can I figure out whether this is a font problem and then fix it ??? Could you please try it out by using SO or OO ? How can I include/import the formula you created (the "ps. file) in my StarOffice document ??? Regards, Maura Alexandr Malusek wrote:
Hi Maura,
There is NO way to generate a formula contaning a summation represented by the Greek symbol "sigma" like the one I have attached.
I'm not familiar with OpenOffice 1.0.1 (I use LaTeX for typesetting) but
p_n = w_n over sum_{i=1}^{N} w_i
works OK there, see the attached PostScript file.
Surprisingly SO on Windows has even fewer symbols ...
Are you sure the SO was installed correctly? Some fonts may be missing.
