Hi I just got Suse 8.1 not too long ago but I'm running into some problems trying to rebuild vim and Mplayer from the source rpms provided on the CDs.
Here's the error for MPlayer:
/usr/local/src # rpm --rebuild MPlayer-0.90pre6-39.nosrc.rpm Installing MPlayer-0.90pre6-39.nosrc.rpm File /usr/src/packages/SOURCES/w32codec-0.60.tar.bz2: No such file or directory
Am I missing something?
w32codec isn't included for legal reasons. It's described in the file README.SuSE. There's a tool to get the libs from a windows partition, or if you don't have one you can get them from the net. A slightly bigger problem is that SuSE while crippling the rpm seem to have crippled it a little too much. The main source file MPlayer-0.90pre6.tar.bz2 is also missing :) Anders
