And this alone should be reason enough to use the proper methods when writing to this list. If you have a problem, you do not want to miss out on possible answers from Philipp Thomas.
Its a free country, or whatever :-)
Then there are also other "gurus" who do the same, because they don't have the time to mess with sloppy mails.
So, if for no other reason, follow the rules because it gives you a much higher chance of getting a useful answer.
Excuse me... but isn't it excesive to talk of "rules"? :-? Those "rules" are not given in writting when subscribing to the list; thus, in my opinion, they are not rules. The written "instructions" from "suse-linux-e-help@suse.com" just reads:
Please read the following frequently asked, frequently asked questions before posting to the list. As with any mailing list or newsgroup, it's usually a good idea to read the list for a few days before posting.
And after reading for some days, any newcomer would see all flavours. For my self, I will not ignore an email just on the grounds of "top-posting" - more so when many will be newcomers to linux, probably being also users of other systems, having different experiences, knowledge, and background. I might ignore some mails if I'm busy or tired, depending on how much the subject interests me, or how difficult or long it is to read or understand. But not simply because he/she "top-posts".
PS. I usually ignore HTML mails and mails with too long lines.
I have not noticed html here :-? -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
